Saving energy with Vinh Phu battery joint stock company

Vinh Phu Battery Factory (now Vinh Phu Battery Joint Stock Company) officially operated from October 31, 1978 with a designed capacity of 50,000 kWh battery per year.
 
   Each year our company consumes an average of 1.5 million kWh; over 15 tons of gas. During the production process, our company used many chemicals and toxic materials such as lead, zinc, acid, long operating time, so there were many problems in waste and working environment. When the Cleaner Production (CP) component of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Phu Tho province chose to participate in the pilot project in mid-2008, our company's leaders determined that this was an opportunity to reorganize production and improve equipment system and ensure a sustainable production environment.

After being professionally trained and equipped with the knowledge on cleaner production application, our company has set up a specialized team of technical staff in our workshops to improve and maintain an clean production environment
 
  About the lighting system, our Company gradually replaced the 40W bulb with a 36W tube bulb. Our company also enhances lighting by cleaning glass panels on both sides of the factory.
 
   In order to reduce the amount of electricity consumed in the production process, our Company gradually replaced the 3-phase homemade fans with (capacity of 1.2 kW) with new fans which required less power but still efficient. In addition, our company also take interest in replacing an old lead ball casting machines with a more modern machines to save electricity while avoiding lead oxidation.
 
   Previously, our Company discharged 16,000 m3 / year of wastewater from equipment cooling and floor cleaning processes containing chemicals including lead heavy metals, alloys and acids. Our company also has a bio-pond system to store wastewater before discharge it out. However, in order for the treatment process to be effective as well as avoiding the situation of waste water infusing into the ground affecting the groundwater, our Company conducted a partial circulation of water from the cooling process of equipment as well as strengthening floor washing process to save water. Specifically, our company invested 75 million VND to build a waste water tank; steel overhead water tanks; Any leaking pipe, valve, pump system has been replaced. The profit gained from this solution is  43.2 million VND(30m3 of circulating water / day = 10,800 m3 / year).
 
   In the extreme dryer stage, the drying equipment was old, produced extremely broken plates, consumed a lot of gas. Our company has researched and replaced it with a new machine that both saves energy and reduces failure rates.
 
   Phase I: Our company has implemented 13 simple solutions related to the ball casting system, lead powder grinding, high plastering, extreme annealing ... Phase I is quite successful with impressive figures: The amount of raw lead Substance before applying for cleaner production is 7.5kg for 1 KWh battery to be reduced to 7.3kg, helping to reduce 5.5% of COD, BOD. Alloy lead reduced from 7.3kg to 7kg. The amount of salt decreased from 0.5m3 to 0.43m3, helping save 4,900 m3 of clean water / year. The amount of coal reduced from 20 tons / year to no longer having to use coal. The amount of electricity reduced from 20kWh to 14.7kWh, helping to reduce 371,000 kWh of electricity / year.
 
   In the second phase, our company set a number of goals such as: concentrated sewage treatment system was newly built to ensure TCVN standards, lead as raw materials decreased from 14.3kg / kWh battery to 13.8kg; water from 0.43 m3 / kWh to 0.4m3; electricity from 14.7kWh to 13.5 KWh.
 
   Phase 2 investment items will be an ultra-automatic rib casting machine, acid suction and treatment system at the turnaround stage, vacuum cleaner, gas drying equipment, water circulation system, circulating system. acid. Total investment capital in the period was over VND 9 billion (of which the capital supported by CPI was VND 3.1 billion). By December 2008, our company has completed the system of casting balls, grinding lead powder, plastering, tempering; 7/2009, perfecting plate molding machine; September 2009 completed the system of suction and treatment of acid blind. Currently, our company has maintained stable CP work in our company and continued to invest in expanding production and improving the third stage line.
 
   Although it has just invested and completed the implementation of the component from the end of 2009, so far, the efficiency brought in Vinh Phu Battery Joint Stock Company is very clear. Obviously, reducing the cost of raw materials and fuel not only increases the efficiency and competitiveness of products but also has a great impact on waste into the environment.
 
   Currently, our company is striving to ensure that the emission pollution indicators are within the permitted limits of TCVN. Constructing a waste water treatment system to ensure that the wastewater reaches the standards Reduce 10% of electricity consumption, 10% of gas, 5% of lead slag waste and reduce the rate of defective products to 3%.
